Winner of The Big Assembly logo competition announced

Today we’re delighted to announced that the winner of the competition to design a logo for The Big Assembly is Anna Koon from Loreto College in Manchester. Congratulations to Anna! A designer has worked with Anna’s winning design and the final version can be seen below.

Anna Koon’s winning design – the logo for The Big Assembly

Describing the inspiration for her logo, Anna said, “The design for my logo came mainly from experimentation around the words ‘Heart, Cross, and 2010’ and how I could link all these together in a single logo. The cross is central to the logo, as the cross symbolizes Christ. The Pope is Christ’ s representative on earth. The cross forms the “1” for the 2010. Inspiration for the colour came from a combination of the Papal colour yellow and the red of the heart.”

This will be used as the individual branding for The Big Assembly, alongside the official logo for the entire Papal Visit, which has been designed by artist Brian Clarke.

The judging panel were really impressed with the quality of the entries we received and had a very difficult job picking a winner. Thank you to everyone who entered.
